Coming tomorrow is October’s Little Box of Horrors. The theme of the month is “Villains”. I have offerings from Lemming Lacquer and LynB Designs to share with you. Let’s get started!
The Enchantress｜Lemming Lacquer
First up from Lemming Lacquer is The Enchantress, inspired by DC Comics’ The Enchantress. It is a blackened green jelly with gold-green to emerald green multi-chrome and chartreuse holographic micro sparks. Shown in 2 coats. Although the first coat seems a bit sheer, the second gives a very nice opacity and shiftiness.

Catwoman｜Lemming Lacquer
Next up, inspired by DC Comics’ Catwoman, Catwoman is a black jelly with purple to red shimmer and teal holographic micro sparks. Shown in 3 coats. This one is the sheerest of the quad. The color combo of the red shimmer and the teal holo glitter is very interesting and unique.

The Riddler｜Lemming Lacquer
Inspired by DC Comics’ The Riddler, The Riddler is a green jelly with bright green shimmer and purple/fuchsia metallic flakes. Shown in 3 coats. This one is also super unique, and it really gives off villainous vibes.

Two-Face｜Lemming Lacquer
The last one of Lemming’s quad is inspired by the art on the cover of Batman: One Bad Day featuring Two-Face. Two-Face is a blue jelly darkened by black microflakes and set aflame by red to orange to gold flakes. Shown in 2 coats. Although the base has a jelly formula, which you could build the colors up with more coats, I stopped at two because I don’t want the flakies to build up so much that you can’t see the base color. With that said, I love the mix of black and rainbow flakes so much!

It’s Always Purple｜LynB Designs
Last but not least, LynB Designs is bringing us a thermal called It’s Always Purple. It is a lavender to pale blue thermal base filled with pink to orange to gold shifting micro flakies. In Jennalyn’s words, “It always feels like villains wear purple with accents of teal or blue. So I made a polish inspired by it.” The thermal is super reactive as always. It’s a delicate color.

Little Box of Horrors is a monthly collaboration for indie nail polishes, with themes inspired by horror, paranormal, supernatural, sci-fi, and mystery. Based in the US, the shop is run by two indie nail polish brand owners, Paradox Polish and Wicked Lacquer. The shop opens from the 22nd to the 30th of every month for pre-order. Monthly theme of the following year will be submitted and voted by Facebook group members every September. Makers will then create a shop exclusive item based on the theme.
