*Products shown are gifted and I am paid to swatch. All opinions are my own.*

Less than 80 days until Halloween! Who’s already counting down? Cassie from Lemming Lacquer is bringing Halloween spirit to us early this year, with their new collection “Slay In Character” inspired by horror movies. Slay In Character collection features 9 stunners in various formula. Can’t wait to share the swatches with you!

  1. The Final Girl
  2. The Love Interest
  3. The Best Friend
  4. The Good Guy
  5. The Nerd
  6. The Stoner
  7. The Alpha Jock
  8. The Plastic Queen
  9. The Rebel
  10. Wait! There’s something else you might also like to read…

The Final Girl

First up, The Final Girl has a pink to copper to gold shimmer base with holographic microflakes, metallic red flakes, and black microflakes. Shown in 3 coats, but you can also use this as a topper. In the back, I’ve included swatches of Samhainophobia (Halloween 2023) to compare. They’re both gem-packed with holo shimmer, iridescent shimmer, and flakies, but the colors are very different.

The Love Interest

The Love Interest has a darkened indigo base with red to orange to gold microflakes, black holographic microsparks and fuchsia to copper to gold magnetic pull. Shown in 3 coats. The pointer and the ring finger are in cat-eye style; the middle finger and pinkie are unmagnetized; the thumb is in velvet style. I love this one in cat-eye style! It shows so much depth, bringing out the twinkling flakies base. In the back, I’ve included swatches of colors that have a similar shifts, including The Plastic Queen (Slay in Character), Paranormal Delights (Halloween 2023), DJ Phantasmagloria (Oct 2024 PGB).

The Best Friend

The Best Friend is a shimmery glowing golden ocher base with multichrome flakes shifting from red to copper to gold. Shown in 3 coats. I love this kind of orange! I’ll be honest and say that I’m not sure about the flakies on me, but they sure make this polish very unique.

The Good Guy

The Good Guy is a golden-green to emerald green multichrome with a blue to purple to red magnetic pull. Shown in 2 coats. The pointer and the ring finger are in cat-eye style; the middle finger and pinkie are unmagnetized; the thumb is in velvet style. Lemming’s magnetics have always been amazing because Cassie put a lot of effort in making sure that the polish will look good even without magnetizing. This one is a perfect example. I would gladly wear it either way. Some comparisons in the back includes Magician’s Assistant (Beetlejuice), It’s Showtime (Beetlejuice), Alice The Torture Artist (The Magicians).

The Nerd

The next one is an absolute BOMB! The Nerd is a violet jelly with iridescent flakes shifting from pink to red to copper to gold and green to blue to violet magnetic pull. Shown in 2 coats. The pointer and the ring finger are in cat-eye style; the middle finger and pinkie are unmagnetized; the thumb is in velvet style. This one is so shifty and glowy! I’ve never seen any magnetics like this! The pictures hardly do it justice as it is 10x more glowing in person. If you love a purple/blue magnetic, don’t miss out on this one!

The Stoner

The Stoner is a blackened green with lime-gold iridescent shreds, chartreuse holographic microsparks and iridescent flakes shifting green to gold to copper. Shown in 3 coats, 2 coats might be enough if you have short nails. I especially like how the jelly base allows the flakies to peek through.

The Stoner|US$13.50|15ml

The Alpha Jock

The Alpha Jock is a vibrant shimmery blue with red to copper to gold magnetic pull. Shown in 2 coats. This one is also a very unique magnetic! I love the color contrast between the vibrant base color and the magnetic line.

The Alpha Jock|US$13.50|15ml

The Plastic Queen

The Plastic Queen is a red-violet to purple to red to copper with black holographic microsparks. Shown in 3 coats. Comparisons in the back includes DJ Phantasmagloria (PGB Oct 2024), and Even When He’s Dead Sparkle Can’t Stop Shining (LE).

The Rebel

Last but not least, The Rebel is a purple to black to red multichrome magnetic with red holographic microsparks. Shown in 3 coats. The pointer and the ring finger are in cat-eye style; the middle finger and pinkie are unmagnetized; the thumb is in velvet style. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I can see holographic sheen from the magnetic shimmers. It’s so unique! The red and black multichrome reminds me of Krampus 2023 (Better Watch Out 2023), so I’ve included in the back. It turns out that they look more alike in my head than in reality.
