Hi all! I’ve been busy at work recently, so it has been a little quite on here and on Instagram. However, July brings us a lot of gorgeous new collections that I have to share with you! First upcoming collection I’ll share is “For the Birds Vol.2” from Wildflower Lacquer. I’m so excited for this collection! It features 7 beautiful shimmer polishes inspired by birds. Along with the collection, there will also be some new charity polishes and a returning shade.

For those who are new to Wildflower, two years ago in March 2021, Wildflower Lacquer came out with a stunner for Polish Pickup (PPU) inspired by peacocks— I Wanna See Your Peacock. It led to a full collection inspired by all sorts of birds, For the Birds Vol.1, in July 2021, which, I still regret not getting a few when they were available. The new colors in Volume 2 are all siblings of the previous birds; they will all feature the same shifty shimmers and holo flakies. Of course they are super vibrant, just like features of the birds. Let’s dive into the swatches!

Lovey Dovey

We will start with the birds! Lovey Dovey is inspired by Mourning Doves, described as a slate purple gray base with gold to green to blue shifting shimmer and scattered holo flakes. To be honest, grayish colors like this were not something I would have bought before. But Wildflower is slowing changing me! This one is such a subtle, elegant shade. Opaque in 2 coats.

Tweetie Pie

Inspired by the yellow canary, Tweetie Pie is a yellow gold base with gold to green to blue shifting shimmer and scattered holo flakes. Opaque in 2 coats. This one is absolutely glowing! So bright and perfect for summer! I have a feeling that some might not be a great fan of yellow polishes, but I honestly love this one and how tan it makes me look.

Emerald Jewel

Next up we have Emerald Jewel, inspired by quetzal birds (known as emerald jewels of the cloud forest). This is a deep teal base with gold to green to blue shifting shimmer and scattered holo flakes. Opaqued in 2 coats. If you remember “All Spangled Up” from volume 1, this is a richer, darker, tealer(?) version of it. Hopefully this will help scratch the itch for those who missed it. As a green polish lover, I highly recommend getting this! Love the jewel tone of it!

Flippin’ the Bird

Inspired by a favorite bird of Taylor— always appreciate her humor and the punchy names— Flippin’ the Bird is a silvery blue base with gold to green to blue shifting shimmer, bedazzled with holo flakes, scattered iridescent glitter and scattered holo glitter. This may be my favorite from this collection. It reminds me of glistering lake, and Monet’s Water Lilies. It feels tranquil but so alive at the same time.

Impeckable

Next up is Impeckable, inspired by maroon woodpeckers, described as a deep maroon berry base with gold to green to blue shifting shimmer and holographic flakes. The color reminds me of the Red Globe grapes, which I’ve been having a lot of lately. The warm tone looks pretty flattering on Asian skin.

Hum Again?

Hum Again? is a purple base with gold to green to blue shifting shimmer and holo flakes, inspired by hummingbirds. I really like when the shimmers show the blue shift; they pair so nicely with the base color.

Chip Off the Old Hawk

Last but not least from For the Birds Vol.2 is Chip Off the Old Hawk, a brown base with gold to green to blue shifting shimmer and holo flakes, inspired by the red tailed hawk. While swatching, I was wondering how it would compare with Just Wingin’ It from Back to the 90’s Vol.2. After pulling out the swatches, I found that they are actually quite different! This one has more of a gold/green shift; while Just Wingin’ It appears more brown/green. I included a comparison collage in the back Swipe to see if you’re interested!

Fairy Bells

Next I’d like to share the LEs of July, starting from the annual Alzheimer’s Awareness charity polish. Every year Taylor will make a Alzheimer’s Awareness charity polish in memory of her grandma. This year she drew inspiration from her grandma’s favorite flowers— the Foxglove, Fairy Bells is actually another name for Foxglove. This polish was made into a finish that Taylor’s grandma would have worn. Fairy Bells is a sheer purple base with purple pink to gold shifting microflakes shimmer. Shown here in 3 coats. This will be $13 with $5 of every bottle sold being donated to Pearl’s Memory Babies.

Marshmallow Flame

The last color I will share here is a out-of-the-vault shade, Marshmallow Flame! It was originally released in 2019 and 2020, but Taylor wanted to offer it again for those who missed it the first time around. Marshmallow Flame is a clear base with icy aqua shimmer. You can use it as a topper over any colors, or wear it along like I did in three coats here. The pearly finish looks really beautiful!

That’s all the colors I have to share today, which will all be coming in July at Wildflower Lacquer’s site. But wait! There’s more! Taylor made two additional charity polishes dedicated to her mother’s dog Murphy and Sadie. They had to put Murphy down unexpectedly a few weeks ago, and Sadie has just had her cancerous tumor removed. These two colors will also be $13 each with $5 of every bottle sold donated relatively to OK Humane Society and AKC Canine Health Foundation Canine Cancer Research. I don’t have swatches of these two but you can always look out for swatches on WFL’s Instagram and the website listing once it’s open.

Total of 12 shades will be available for pre-order from 7/7 noon CT to 7/11 11:59pm CT at Wildflower Lacquer’s website. As always, if you bought the full For the Birds Collection: Volume 2, there will be a discounted price of $87.50.

That’s it for my swatches today, hope you enjoy these beauties as much as I do! Feel free to subscribe to my blog for more swatch and reviews to come, or follow me on Instagram @jemima.nails for more nail art contents. See you in the next one!
