July is always the craziest month for Polish Pickup (PPU), because it’s the rewind month! During July, makers get to bring back up to 2 PPU exclusive items from the past, one on PPU site and one on the makers site, so we can have another chance to get our hands on them. In this article, I sorted through my stash and swatches to show you some colors I have/have swatched that are coming back this month. I will show them in two parts. The first part is the “Rewind” shades, including those that will be available on PPU site. The second part is the “After Party” shades, including those coming back to the makers’ site. Let’s get right to it!

First up, the Rewind items!
Magic Effect Top Coat｜DRK Nails＊
DRK Nails is bring us again their popular Magic Effect Top Coat. This is a top coat designed specifically for magnetic polishes. It can make the process easier and hold the magnetic line in place without it dispersing over time. You can use it over any magnetic polish. Simply apply 2-3 generous coats of the polish, no need to magnetize each coat. Wait until the last coat is touch-dried, then apply a generous coat of Magic Effect. Hold the magnet above the nail right away, as close to the nail as possible, for 30-60 seconds. A crisp magnetic line will show for you without the hassle. I made a tutorial showing you the whole processing. Check it out below! For my swatches, I deliberately use the weakest magnetic polish in my collection to demonstrate. On my pointer and middle finger, I was using the method above with Magic Effect, and on my ring finger and pinkie, I used my regular method, magnetizing each layer of the polish. You can see that even though I did the former two first, the lines remains more crispy than those on the latter two. The only downside of Magic Effect is that it will not harden after drying, so I would recommend adding another layer of your favorite quick dry top coat after that. If you like magnetic polishes but are constantly frustrated about the result, Magic Effect a try. This time Katia changed her bottle for this, so the volume is larger than the one in my picture!

Pure Joy｜DRK Nails＊
Also from DRK Nails, Pure Joy is a captivating violet/blue base complemented with delightful pink candy flakes and holo micro flakes. Opaque in 3 coats. This was originally released in December 2023 (Maker’s Choice). It’s a beautiful, dreamy color! The candy flakes glow magically in the shade; while the holo flakes sparkle under direct light.

Cherry Blossom｜Kathleen & Co.
Next up, Cherry Blossom is a pale spring green base with glowy pink shimmer and holo micro flakes, originally released under National Parks & Landmarks theme in May 2022. Opaque in 3 coats. I bought this one from a destash because I can’t get it off my mind after passing it up. I’ve since worn it a lot of times, including this April when I went to South Korea to see the cherry blossom. The contrasting shimmer is absolutely beautiful! It’s one of my favorite polish in my collection.

All I Really Want｜Lemming Lacquer＊
If you’re a fan of glowy blue shimmers, All I Really Want is THE polish to get this month. It is a blue-violet jelly base with brilliant sapphire to violet shimmer. Opaque in 3 coats. It was from 90’s Grunge theme back in October 2023. It is every bit as glowy as the picture shows, if not more.

Frosted Light｜LynB Designs＊
The last one that’s coming to PPU site is Frosted Light by LynB Designs. It is a sheer but buildable pale cornflower blue base with aqua to blue to purple shifting shimmer. Opaque in 3 coats. This picture doesn’t do this one justice. The shimmers in this one is super glowy!

You’re Standing On My Neck｜Lemming Lacquer＊
On Lemming Lacquer’s site, we have an oldie from May 2018’s 90’s theme, You’re Standing On My Neck. This is a deep green jelly with multichrome shimmer shifting gold, copper, and green. Opaque in 2 coats. The shift in this one is so strong and beautiful! As a green polish lover, I can’t get enough of it!

Tenta-Cool｜LynB Designs＊
Coming back to LynB site, we have Tenta-Cool, a deep purple jelly base with intense blue to purple shifting shimmer. Opaque in 3 coats. It was release earlier this year in February 2024 as part of the Wild Animal theme. This one is truly mesmerizing! I said glowy a lot in this post, but I suppose many people love glowy shimmers, and that’s why they’re making a come back!

I Axolotl Questions｜Lumen
Created for the August 2022 Marine Magic theme, I Axolotl Questions by Lumen is coming back to Lumen site. It is a pink polish saturated with a pink to orange, gold and turquoise shimmer and holo flakes. Shown in 3 coats, but it looks beautiful no matter how many coats you use. I ADORE this one! The fine holo flakes makes it so elegant!

Polish Pickup is the largest monthly collaboration for indie nail polishes. Based in the US, the shop opens first Friday to the following Monday of every month for pre-order, featuring mostly indie nail polishes, as well as some indie jewelries, lifestyle items, wax melts, nail cares, bath and body cares, etc. The monthly shop will have different theme each month, submitted and voted by Facebook group members three month ahead, based on which all the brands will create a shop exclusive item.
